Descriptive Writing: It Was Just a Dream
One day, there was a stubborn girl named Theresa. She is always scolded by her mother for disobeying all her commands. She does the things that her mother does not want her to do and she does not do the things that her mother wants. Even cleaning up her own mess, she still manages to play all day with friends with her mother doing all the household chores.
It was afternoon then that her mother wants her to sleep. She didn’t want to go to bed because she was building a sand castle along the shoreline. But her mother was very angry and told her that if she won’t go to bed, she can’t enter the house anymore. That’s why; Theresa was forced to go to sleep. But minutes later, because she can’t sleep and she noticed that her mother was in a deep sleep, she sneaked out to the house and built again a sand castle.
When a big wave rushed and destroyed her sand castle, she noticed a very antique bottle with glitters in it. She opened it, and when it was opened, a huge smoke came out from the bottle; she coughed and could hardly catch her breath. When she opened her eyes, everything was white and when she turned around, she saw a giant man, floating in the air with a costume like an Indian.
“Wahahaha! Gracias amiga! At last, we meet!!”
“Who are you?”
“I am Genie! I have been observing you for a long, long time!”
“Huh? Why? What do you want from me?”
“I have been observing you from the start and as I’ve seen in you, you are very disobedient and you always give heartache to your mother. And I am here to punish you.”
“What? I do not owe anything? Why would you punish me? You’re not my parents and I didn’t do anything to you.”
“Stop complaining! Or else you will have a bigger punishment.”
“Okay, okay, I’ll do whatever you say.”
“Well, let’s start then. First….”
“Huh?! First? You mean, there will be second, third and so on??”
“Oh yes darling. So, shall we start?”
“Okay.”
“Now dance for me”
Without any complains Theresa danced as gracefully as she could. As she was about to end her dance, Genie stopped her.
“Okay, it was good, but I was not impressed.”
“Huh? I danced as hard as I could, as graceful as I could? And then it was nothing to you? What else do you want?”
“Well sing for me”
Theresa singed the national anthem of the Philippines.
“What was that? I didn’t mean the national anthem, you’re so nationalistic! Sing a song that can entertain me.”
Theresa was really angry, she wanted to quit but she have to do all the things the Genie says because it is between life and death.
“What if I do not obey you? What will you do to me?”, Theresa asked.
“Well it’s simple. You will go with me, into my magnificent kingdom and you will be my slave! So? Are you going to sing or not?”
Theresa groaned, but she continued singing. But it was still not enough for Genie.
“Stop singing! This will be the last one, if you don’t empress me again, I will really take you to my kingdom. Act for me! Cry! Laugh!”
Theresa did all the things that she could to save herself from slavery. But Genie is hard to empress.
“Sorry you’ve failed. Now prepare yourself, we will go to my kingdom!!!! Bwahahahahahaha!!! Now, let’s go.”
Theresa couldn’t help herself, she don’t know what to do, she ants to shout and ask for help. All she didi is to beg.
“Please forgive me, I will be a good girl from now on, just let me go. I promise I will obey my mother.”
And as she was dragged by Genie, she felt that she so stiff and can’t move her body. After a moment, she found herself falling from bed. It was just a dream. So since then, she was a good and an obedient girl not only to her mother but to all. THE END.

#3 I Stop to say Thank You Nanay and Tatay
One of the greatest part we have in our life is to have a great family that is always there to support in our problems which really needs proper guidance and assistance. the importance of valuing the families these days is very rare to some.
One of the greatest reward our parents could ever have is to see us children growing up, be independent and be successful in life. Nothing ever replaced their smiles that they had when they saw us having our first gasps of air. One story that my mother told me when I was young is that, when I came out from my mother's womb, my father was worried because I did not cry. The doctor slapped me harder and harder but i did not cry. My Father's reaction was so harsh that he punched the wall of the hospital many times while saying some bad words, but he stopped when he heard a cute cry coming from me :). That really made me think that my father really love me even though he did not see me yet.
"Nung isilang ka sa mundong ito, laking tuwa ng magulang mo at ang kamay nila ang iyong ilaw....". This song really inspires me a lot to do good in my studies and in everything that I do because if I didn't I Would end up like the teenager described in that song. Some people value family as if it is nothing, it's not important, its insignificant to them, they don't mind what is happening to there relatives. Some parents would strive hard just to feed their children but the children do not appreciate it rather than thanking their parents for giving them food. On the other side, there are also parents who do not recognize how hard their children was going through just to make them proud.
But there are people who would really mind what is the status of their family they are alarmed if one of the family member has a conflict with the other, and they would immediately settle it down. I think that people value family these days depending on what they can afford. People with lack of financial support cannot spend their time going to the mall because they are busy working hard to sustain the family's needs. While rich people or those who can afford would always have their family bonding. It's just sad to think that there are rich people who really can't give time to their family because they are busy with their jobs. That's why their children would be rebellious and would not obey what the parents want them to do.
I would show to my parents that I still value them 10 years from now by taking good care of them and whenever they need my help, whether its financial or spiritual, I would immediately give it to them. Because without them, I am not here having my right to go to school and learn the things I am supposed to learn. I would say thank you to my parents by showing them how grateful I am for having them as my parents. When the time would come that I will be successful in the field I am taking, I would stop and hug them and say "Thank you because all of this will be nothing without your help. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have done just to provide all my needs. Thank you and I love you Nay and Tay!"

#2 Reading and Writing?
They say that reading and writing can improve your communication skills, vocabulary and your confidence in expressing your ideas to the world. Benefits can be obtained if you practice reading and writing as to what they say. Especially at my age I have to be good at writing, reading and communicating because I must participate in every class discussion.
Now, Do I consider myself as a good reader and writer? Well, the answer is no. First of all, I do not consider myself as a good reader because I do not like reading. I only read those books or stories that I am oblige to read. When my friends told me to read a certain book, it depends on me if the first chapter of it is likable of my understanding, but if not, I reject it and stop reading it. Many times I would tell myself to read, read, and read but I would tell myself, "I'd rather go texting" in which honestly, the thing I am refraining to do now. But anyways, I would really want to train myself to be a good reader because I am envy to those who are book addicts or bookworms because they are really good especially in vocabularies.
In terms of writing, I don't consider myself as a good writer even though in my Elementary days I joined the Elementary Schools Press Conference got an award but still not contented with my writing skills. Because I know that I am lacking one thing...."READING".... I can't improve my writing skills if I don't practice reading, because our teacher told us that through reading you can gain ideas on how to format your writings what words to use and etc.
Now I am in college, I have to encourage myself to be a reader and a writer so that I have the confidence to express my ideas and feelings to others through writing.. I know with the help of my English Teachers I would be a reader and a writer someday. :-)
